Silicon Carbide Ceramic (SiC)

Silicon Carbide (SiC)

Silicon carbide (SiC), also named carborundum, is a ceramic-like compound formed by bonding silicon and carbon. Since the end of the 19th century, silicon carbide has become an important material for sandpaper, grinding wheels, and cutting tools. Recently, its application has been found in refractory linings and heating elements of industrial furnaces, wear parts of pumps and rocket engines, and semiconductor substrates of light-emitting diodes.

Boron Carbide Parts China, Advanced Ceramics Division is a leading supplier of ceramic materials. We provide high-purity silicon carbide ceramic products at competitive prices.

Silicon Carbide Properties

-High hardness, Mohs hardness rating of 9

-High thermal conductivity

-High-temperature strength

-Low thermal expansion

-Resistance to chemical reaction

-Wear-resistant

-Its electrical conductivity between that of metals and insulating materials

Silicon Carbide SiC Applications

Based on the above properties, silicon carbide ceramic products are used as

– A promising substitute for traditional semiconductors such as silicon in high-temperature applications.

-Grinding wheels and abrasive paper and cloth products

-High-temperature bricks and other refractories

-Abrasive and cutting tools

-Structural material
